Does anybody have guts to beat Google? I trusted Microsoft but...

Google, Google, Google.. it is spreading like never before. Who knew some 5-6 years before that Google will give MicroSoft a run for their money. Google is coming with cool features and MicroSoft must be surely finding hard to even imagine whats going to come next! If MS dont get their acts straight and sharp, they would have to accept their "defeat" from Google.

Just a couple of days before, Google gave again hit to MicroSoft by bagging 5% stake in AOL for $1 Billion. Well, its fun to watch the battle in the market field.

Can MicroSoft beat Google in the area of search engine? However, cool search engine they bring, it would defintely take time for MicroSoft to win the trust of people to move from Google to MicroSoft when search engine is concerned? I am sure they could not buy the trust of the people so easily.

And, did I forget to mention Yahoo? O yes, Yahoo is also doing lot of stuff to beat Google/Microsoft in Search engine techonlogy.

One thing is sure that it is not going to be easy for both Microsoft and Yahoo to beat Google. But, one never knows...!

Anyways, All the best to MicroSoft and Google and Yahoo!

AOL and Google have had a search engine agreement for three years, "at the end of the day, nothing much has really changed" for Microsoft. From Microsoft's perspective, the ability to do a deal with AOL would have been a good thing, but it was not a critical thing.

Microsoft is the market leader in the desktop market.

Microsoft plans to integrate desktop search into the upcoming version of Windows, code-named Vista, and eventually extend that to the Internet. When search becomes an integrated part of the Windows experience, that will put Google on the defensive.

Microsoft's competition with Google is a prolonged, multi-move game. While Microsoft has slipped in the first few rounds, we can expect Microsoft to move into the next round relatively swiftly and most certainly aggressively.

I've written a 4-part posting on the topic of Yahoo and MSN v. Google. You can see it at blogation.blogspot.com. I'd love to hear comments from folks.

The main strenght of Google lies in its capacity to innovate. Though the concept of searhc engines was not perpetuated by Google gang, but Google definitely adopted the innovative way of running the searh engine. To start with, Google was only and only a search engine. It was NOT a portal with an add-on facility to search the web. Search was not just USP, but the core business of Google Inc. For a prolonged time, Google didn't bother to foray into anything else. They had a good focus.

Now, think of their other offerrings: Google Earth, Blogspot, Google Maps, Google Print, Image Search, etc are all highly innovative ideas. Google was pioneer in all these areas.

Besides the innovation part, Google does the everyone's business all the more better. Their Advanced Search feature is fabuluos, Picassa is cool; Google supports Internationalization extensively (who else would let me search in Urdu -:)

And, finally, Google has a smart advertising program: AdSense, which I believe fetches it good revenue.

The gyan one can get from Google experience is: try to be a pioneer than being follower, and if a follower, then do it differently from others and carve a niche (Google Talk is different from all other instant messengers we have today -:)
